Make A Free Web Site
Get A Free Web Host!
Now you are ready to find a Free Web Host. There are many out there to pick from so which one should you choose? A free one of course! But remember you will most like make it a paid account in time so look through a few and see what they have to offer. Sign up for more than one and see whats best for you before you get serious. Think of it as the home of your new web site when making your choice. Some important things to look for is that they will host your domain and sub domains free, have cPanel software, an editor and ftp program.
Are you going to be using a Web Programming environment? If you you will have to check if they have PHP. SQL, or ASP installed or at least an option. Also check the versions they have installed ot available.
Do you need your programs to be run on the fly? Some Free Hosts offer something called Zacky Tools Installer. Zacky Tools install will instantly set up the skeleton of your website on the fly. It will do all the work! All you need to do is add your content. heck the host if they have this feature because it sure comes in handy.
What are you going to get for free? Or in another terms what kind of quality service does this free Web Host have to offer? What is the Uptime, and how well or fast will your Web Page load? What is the Disk Space, Traffic and Allowed Content on the Free Hosting Site (does the site ban keywords?) These are all factors which should be looked into.
I personally think uptime and/or speed are the two most important. You want your site there when visitors come. when the click on your link or type your URL and hit enter it is important that your site is easily accessed and up in an instant. Some Free Web Hosts have terrible uptime and/or bandwidth. Whats the point if only one of two people actually make it there in a speedy fashion? How to test? Its actually pretty easy. Find a directory of the sub domains hosted by the Web Host. These are sites already up and running by other people using the Free Hosting Services offered by the Free Web Host and could be found somewhere on there site specifically there forums. Check them out, use a stop watch if you like. It will get you a pretty good picture how your pages will load.
Also to consider are what are the other constraints you have such as your Free Disk Space, and Allowed Traffic. Numbers are nice to work with and all these free hosts will offer one for your Disk Space and Traffic. Most are pretty good and well in the Gigabytes. Just remember you can always open multiple accounts on the same host and across several hosts so it almost is a limitless number!
One last thing to ask is does the Free Host have banned keywords? Yep, banned! These are not necessarily “bad” four letter words but in actuality good five or six letter words such as Google, Yahoo and Amazon. Why are these words banned? Because banned words could generate revenue on your site so the free web host cashes in on this. So just keep this in mind because most free hosting providers will have these banned words. Once you get a paid account these banned words are normally lifted and you are free to use any language you like.
Whats the catch, why a free web host, what do they gain? Simple, first a visitor and secondly you may become their customer. You are visiting their site due diligently so your use of your web hosts disk space gets you coming back to view their ads and possibly click and generate revenue for them. Your are a + statistic for the page rank and as far as marketing the web host knows what you want, Web Host. So secondly you are a potential paying customer. Eventually you will need more disk space, more bandwidth, no banned words and a whole plethora of tools, your Free Web Hosting provider may only offer to paid account.
